Are you aware that your glazing may be illegal?
Since 1996 the Workplace Health, Safety & Welfare Regulations, Regulation 14, makes it mandatory that EVERY window shall be of safety material or protected against breakage, where necessary for reasons of safety or health.
The approved code of practice for Regualtion 14states that any glazing from floor level to waist height (800mm) in walls and partitions, and shoulder hegiht (1500mm) in or around doors should be that of Safety Glazing conformign to standard BS6206 part 4

The shaded areas of the diagram illustrate the high risk areas that MUST be upgraded to safety glass standards conforming to BS6206. Glass in these areas will almsot certinaly need upgrading if its less than 8mm thick. Georgian wired glass in many cases does not conform to the new regualtions.
If your glass does not conform to the BS6206 regulations, you have 2 options.
1) Removing the old glass, and possible even the frames, so you can have wider rebates for the new toughened or laminated glass. This is likely to cause disruption to the work place, and is no doubt very expensive.
